Audubon Sanctuary Program
Birds and Wildlife Are Protected at Cherry Creek Golf Club
Everyone knows that love for golf and love of nature go hand-in-hand. There's nothing quite as relaxing as strolling down a fairway and watching birds soar overhead or hearing them chatter in the wetlands nearby.
So we've worked hard at Cherry Creek Golf Club to protect our luxuriant natural setting and the wildlife that live in and around our fairways and greens. That's why we've become a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, an honor granted to only about 1,000 golf courses, including some of the most prestigious clubs in the nation.
The rating means that our course superintendent and staff have carried out an environmental plan developed with the help of Audubon International. Among the most obvious signs of what we have done are the blue bird nesting houses and wood duck houses on our course. But we've also worked on water conservation and preserving the quality of the water by reducing use of harmful chemicals. Preserving our wetlands and water areas is also very important to us.
What this sanctuary rating means to you is a more scenic and natural experience during your round. Playing 18 at Cherry Creek is like a visit to a park.
